Expected to launch in July, the new Google Nexus 7 is supposed to offer improved specs such as a higher resolution of 1920 x 1200 on the 7 inch screen instead of the 1280 x 800 resolution on the first-generation model. Android 4.3 is believed to be pre-installed on the revised version of the slab. And instead of the Tegra processor found on the original unit, the new version of the Google Nexus 7 will supposedly be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro processor. Expect a thinner bezel but a price tagstill around $200. There is speculation that Google is subsidizing each slate in the amount of $5 to $10.
A revised Google Nexus 7 would help Android continue to gain ground on Apple in the tablet market. Thanks to low-priced 7 inch slates like the Google Nexus 7and the Amazon Kindle Fire, some analysts see Android overtaking the iPad in shipments as soon as this year.
